Hey y’all! It seems like forever since I’ve been on here just to sit and chat! I cannot believe how quickly December has gone (which is also why this is my first post for December #slackin)!
I feel like it was just Thanksgiving a week ago and now Christmas is less than a week away…insane… January through March seemed like it took forever and a decade (I guess due to quarantine…) For my full-time job I have been working since it started so nothing in that regard really changed for me. Have y’all been working from home or still carrying on-business as usual?
2020 has been an interesting year for everyone I’m sure but this year we did “cookies with fam” a little differently (I attached the recipes down below for you!). We FaceTimed in my grandparents (yes, my grandparents are cool and know how to work FaceTime, it’s great), we made 1 batch of each side of the family’s cookies, and it was so nice to be able to not only talk to family but to see them (even if only from a distance). 2020 has made me so beyond grateful for time spent with family and friends as major family holidays have looked so extremely different.
My Family Traditions
Every year, my family makes cookies and every year….I eat way too much of the dough/cookies/just all the things honestly. Along with cookies, we of course always do the tree and decorations, we watch the Grinch, we go to church on Christmas Eve and just ride around with some hot chocolate to find some Christmas lights. In the neighborhood I grew up in, we had a group of families that went all out for every single major holiday (we’re talking syncing up their houses’ Christmas music for basically a mini light show level of “all out”). They did this for every holiday and as time passed they moved but every year the one family that stuck around has gone all out. As a family, we definitely tried for the matching jammies situation a little late in the game but I’m sure we can find some on Amazon. 😉 We started from buffalo check to stripes to some random santa ones…I honestly don’t know but I’m totally for it.
One tradition I can absolutely not get with is eggnog. I hate eggnog. The taste, the smell…just nope…can’t do it. My dad and grandparents all love it. That and Hallmark Christmas movies…Ick! What’s a holiday tradition that you just can’t get with?
Let me know your favorite family traditions/least favorite family traditions/anything else ya wanna talk about! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out on here or even just dm me on Instagram. I love hearing from y’all!
